I know, I know...you aren't supposed to judge a book by its cover, however, sometimes I really think it does help sell a book. I designed the following three book covers for Pearson (formally known as Prentice Hall). The minute I saw the images, I was immediately inspired. Aren't these images great? Side note: I enjoy designing back covers just as much as front covers.
What do you think? Do well designed book covers influence your purchase? How about when it comes to ebooks? I'm guessing that ebooks rely less on cover design, but I could be wrong. Feel free to discuss!

I think cover images are just as important in ebooks. Ebooks are often self-published, and quite a few of them really *look* self-published. A professional-looking cover helps a self-published ebook be taken more seriously, I think.
ReplyDeleteI really like the textiles cover above!
Thanks Lisa good point. I hadn't thought of folks who self publish and probably lack design skills. BTW, I love the textiles cover too! :)
