Buffet table and china cabinet makeover Part 1: Decisions, decisions

A very sweet friend of mine was getting new dining room furniture and no longer needed her buffet table and china cabinet. The instant she posted photos of them, I knew I wanted them. These pieces had been in her family for a couple of generations and she wanted to make sure they went to a good home. Apparently I qualified because before I knew it, I was driving home with them!

Aren't they fabulous? How luck am I? And how great is my friend? :)

The scale of these pieces is perfect for my dining room. The only problem is that NOTHING in my dining room matches them. The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards painting them. I'm not sure when I'll get around to doing so, but in the meantime, I've been busy scouring the internet for ideas and inspiration.

It's amazing what a few coats of paint can do, right? After seeing these, I really have a lot of decisions to make:

  1. What color should I choose?
  2. Will I need to repaint my current dining room walls?
  3. If so, which color?
  4. Will I need to edit my current pieces?
  5. How will they all look together?

So much to consider. This is a big job and I realize that it will need to be done in phases, but I'm definitely up for the challenge!

To be continued...

  4. Thanks Anj. I'm a bit scared...this is new to me. I know you're an expert so I can't wait to see what you think. It's going to take a while, however, because I'm a bit busy with other things. I will most likely begin in the spring so I can open the garage door to ventilate.
